Although the worker acts like there is a lion behind the cage door, it’s actually just a pet, whom he abuses with the chokepole.
A Pitbull type dog and a Shepherd mix are chokepoled in and out of cages at MAS.
A dog who appears to be friendly gets yanked out of his cage on a chokepole, his front legs not even touching the ground.
The dog in the lower right corner appears to have his head stuck through the metal panel. Three workers come in to look at the dog and then leave. When one of the workers returns with a chokepole and sticks it on the dog’s face while opening the cage door, the dog manages to free himself, having already been chokepoled that day. It’s impossible to tell if his neck was injured from the incident but the worker doesn’t seem to care, stringing the dog up on the chokepole and removing him from the room.
The following 5 clips are all of the same dog. In the first, he is seen sticking his head out the unsecured metal panel and barking pitifully for several minutes.
A worker comes into the room but doesn’t bother to check if the dog is injured nor make any effort to make the cage safe.
Another worker sees the dog’s head sticking out and also does nothing. Is the dog stuck? The worker doesn’t check.
And another…
Finally, someone pays attention to the dog. Tragically, it’s not to check to see if his neck his injured or even to give him some pets. It’s to string him up in a metal noose and whip him out of the cage, presumably on his way to the kill room.
Business as usual at MAS. Nobody cares.
The cats in this room were never fed or watered, their cages were never cleaned and no one checked to see if they were alive from 7am to 7pm. Oh and they were kept in the dark. This clip shows a sampling of the neglect over the 12 hour period.

These sick people should be put in jail. How I would love to see these low lifes treated the way they treat these poor creatures. How can humans be so mean? Damn to hell all of them. There is just no words to watch this and have any kind of excuse. These lowlifes are cowards and bullies.

Please take action and stop the senseless cruelty toward these helpless animals. This is a shelter — a haven — a place of rest in lives of those who may not have had a place to rest in for a long time. Please show them the respect that they deserve and you would demand. I really think this is more insensitivity and ignorance than a desire to harm, but that doesn’t make it less disturbing and cruel. Many of us can put ourselves in the helpless animal’s shoes, and imagine how they must feel. Not everyone has that empathy for animals. Those that don’t need to be weeded out during the application process, and great care needs to be taken to educate people desiring to be acos and kennel workers. It’s not “just a job”, it’s a responsibility for creatures that feel pain and fear, that ought to receive some compassion as they go through the horrible experience of an animal shelter and euthanasia. These employees need to be educated and taught sensitivity, and if they’re burned out, removed from their positions.

Not so sure I agree with only your first comment. These men deliberately took (at least) 2 dogs out on leashes together so they could fight each other for their entertainment. That’s not ignorance. That’s a plan. And standing on a dying cat with both feet?

This is just crazy. I can’t stand to look at another video. Seriously why isn’t there anything done. Why are these people working with animals when they are treating them like crap. This just angered me so bad and that these videos are being taken and still nothing is being done. I want to help. I want to take over the shelter and hire people that loves animal. What can we do to stop this madness.

A choke pole is only necessary when and animal is showing aggression, if you actually LOOKED at the videos, you would see EVERY dog that ends up being dragged around by one, is at first is wagging its tale when the POS goes to the cage or crate to get the poor dog out.
You must be related to or friends of these pathetic excuses for humane beings. Shame on YOU!
If these idiots are afraid of animals, then they shouldn’t be working here, period. This facility should be doing evals and it’s not. That would determine aggression, providing they actually DID the job. It is painfully obvious to even the most casual of observers, that the employees at this facility don’t give a damn, they are only here for the paycheck and doing in a way that’s best for them, not the animals.

i have a pit and love him dearly. my 3 lil boys who cuddle him sleep with him and love him daily would have no clue what to do without him. He also was abused neglected and tied to a guard rail and left for dead. no matter what there kind they could surely treat them better than that. you apparently don’t know what your talking about because if you did you would know when any dog is being abused its nature to protect yourself. these poor animals never had a chance. i hope god forgives you all who treat animals like this

Well, Lynne, that is why there are so many more pit bull attacks, because so many “rescue” groups take these dogs that they have evaluated, and let unsuspecting families adopt them. Please read Chase Anthony Lupica Fund page and the dogs bite page to see what the wonderful famiy pit did to that poor baby. I’d rather see the pit bulls put down, than have 1 more child get attacked. Oh yes, another 4 year old boy just got killed by a pit bull. I’m sorry, I love dogs and have 3, but my grand baby is more valuable than any pit bull out there. Also, a fearful dog is an aggressive dog, should those workers all get chewed up, and mauled and degloved by the pits? Just hope is doesn’t happen to you or a loved one of yours.

Wow, someone has swallowed the media play hook, line, and sinker. Do some research, luvmydogs. These dogs are demonized because they’re popular now – just as we heard about “vicious” German Shepherds, “vicious” Dobermans, etc. years ago. It’s very rare to hear about the attacks on children by Labradors and Goldens, but they happen just the same – they’re just not as “exciting” to the media.

i went on his page and it is sad. my brother was attacked by a alb at age 3 so i feel there pain. it tore his ribs right out of his side. luckily my mother was right there and it was also a stray. this sounds more like a stray dog problem. any kind of dog is vicious when raised that way.

The reality of suffering of animals is beyond some, and the truths, of the inhumane way animals are killed are truths. Since the beginning of time mankind has inflicted pain and torture of animals and some will never see the horrific suffering and treating animals as yesterdays garbage. It is only through education, documentation and kindness and compassion for God’s creatures, and deep personal look as what we are as human beings that will change the attrocities we put on animals. WTF!!! THESE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE ABUSE CHARGES FILED ON THEM…WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS SO MEAN AND WRONG. IF U DONT LIKE THE DOGS THEN GET ANOTHER JOB!!! I FELT SO SORRY FOR THOSE POOR DOGS BEING PULLED AROUND BY THAT CHOKE ROD AND THEN PICKED UP BY THEIR NECKS AND PUT INTO THOSE CAGES AND STUFF, CHOKING THEM THE WHOLE TIME…JUSTICE WOULD BE THEM HAVING ALL THAT STUFF DONE TO THEM AND SEE HOW THEY LIKE IT!!! CAMERAS SHOULD BE IN ALL THOSE SHELTERS TO KEEP AN EYE ON THOSE WORKERS WHO NEED TO BE WATCHED AND SUPEVISED.

I couldn’t even bring myself to view the videos, just looking at the pictures made me feel disgusted!!! I’m so angry that they allow these heartless, cruel individuals to work with animals….makes you think how they must treat their children… MAS should take action and fire these ppl, in the process call CPS on them as well. I think that animal shelters should have a pre-screening and psych test, & know if the person has knowledge on animals (or at least on some breeds) before hiring. ;)

Sophie honey, I have watched all these videos and they actually made me throw up, As you know I am a Canadian. I doubt that MAS would be interested in a thing that I may have to say, or your Government for that matter. However, who every gave these less then human beings jobs, needs to be put away for a very long time. In my Country, if an individual caused harm or abused their pets, they would absolutely get jail time, as well as a very large fine. This member of parliament, that many of you have already mentioned, who holds office in Memphis, should be put out of that office immediately. What kind of person is this, that allows these things to go on, in his own state, and does nothing about it. These poor dear animals, are gifts from God, for us to enjoy as our pets. How dare these people, if that’s what they are called. They certainly don’t deserve the title by any means. I quite honestly, don’t have any words, to describe my feelings about all this. really. I have many thoughts, but I may get myself in trouble if I put them in print. They are all just creeps, that crawled out of a sewer somewhere. I certainly will be praying for these little fur balls, that I love so very much. I also will be praying for justice for each and everyone of these precious animals that have suffered so. For every person who has responded to this gross injustice, God Bless you all. I certainly hope and pray, that you will be able to get something done, to STOP THIS. Take care my American friends. Old already had 3 cicerian pregnancys, she is frightened of a lot. Especially men. These animals are better off put to sleep humanely than living this kind of life in fear. the death penalty sounds like a good punishment for these so called “caretakers”….after of course we drag them down the highway by a choke pole behind a truck!!!
