Name That Animal

November 27, 2011

The blog has been sort of a dead zone (typical for holidays) since Thanksgiving.  So while some readers are away stuffing their faces with the last of the pumpkin pie leftovers, I thought the rest of us could play Name That Animal.  I saw this animal on TV for the first time today.

No researching, just have a guess.  I’ll post the answer in the comments later today.

H’mm. You have me stumped. It looks like some sort of wild sheep, but that’s a guess.

    ANSWER TIME:

This is a Himalayan Tahr. It is a relative of the wild goat. I saw it today on a NatGeo doc which had film of a snow leopard hunting a baby tahr. To my surprise, the narrator also mentioned that a golden eagle could also pick off a baby tahr.
